Getting To Yes

The art of persuading is true skill. There are certain techniques you can learn in persuasion courses that improve your chances of getting to yes.

Here are a few of those techniques you can practice:

  • Use the right tone – using strong words in a positive way can help to swing someone’s opinion. Words like definitely, yes, and absolutely can have a positive impact on a person without them knowing.
  • Adjust your style – adjusting to the person’s style can work to your benefit. If you are speaking to someone who is more emotion, use emotional words like feel or feeling. This can make a difference so use the same style as they do and you will get far.
  • Mirror your opponent – Matching your body language and even your pose/position is a subtle but surprisingly powerful persuasive technique and can help build rapport because people tend to be more open to opinions from people like them.
  • Make Eye Contact – Eye contact establishes rapport, a connection, and especially trust.
  • Use Repetition – make your point in several different ways, such as using an example, use a quote from a famous person, and then once summarize with same points.

Don’t be afraid to address objections. It might be scary but it will show you know what you are talking about.
